I realized this week that we have nearly 1,400 drawings in, made by hundreds of people from all over the world. It’s been 8 months since I released the second iteration of the Prompt-Brush project.

The first time around, it was a very personal experiment where over the course of a year I drew close to 1,500 drawings and emailed them back to the people who sent them in. That was Prompt-Brush 1.0.
2.0 is the open-source version of that idea, now anyone can participate in drawing these prompts, and all the drawings appear in this online archive of human-generated drawings.
Cats and dogs are still a hit in the 2.0 version, and they encompass 11 percent of all prompts drawn.
There are a number of people who I’ve come to think of as regulars, who join in once a week or so and send in a bunch of drawings. I always look forward to seeing some of their work. Kotynski has been drawing almost every week since February, totaling 48 drawings as of today. Alex Malwekstatt has sent in 62. Mango Tango, F. Decombat, Dave DeVoll, Lszl, Kosa, Ignacio Pérez Pérez… Thank you all for keeping this thing pumping.
1.0 was a physical experience, drawings made with ink on paper. The biggest disappointment is that 2.0 hasn’t really lived in our shared tactile world in the same way. These new drawings are generated digitally and they stay digitally archived. No storage boxes with reams of ink-covered letter-sized papers for this second chapter.
For that reason, I made a zine of my favorite Prompt-Brush drawings from the first couple of months of the project. This is zine 1.

It’s my drawing! Thank you so much.
Thank you for sharing the zine of images today. So inspiring!
